Re: PT 5.2 MIDI features...
and some function that AUTOMATICALLY adds the controller you use on a synth (like the virus harware for example) to the edit automation list display. Logic used to do this with and identify controller. I'm lazy and don't want to look up the controller number in the manual every time I use one ...........
------------------ Chris Lambrechts digi, is this one OK ??? (no I'm not a member or employee there, I don't even know them but they try to add their 2 cents ............ and I support them doing that) http://www.copyrightcontrol.com/Clients.asp

Re: PT 5.2 MIDI features...
Great idea Chris. It is annoying having to look up contoller numbers. I have had problems where my synth starts chucking out controller data for no apparent reason and I have difficulty knowing which controller has been recorded. I suppose a list editor would help that.
Also Digi, would it be possible to have individual track looping on midi tracks just like my old pc sequencer used to have. Its great for starting tracks as it removes the need to copy sections if you want to say have a 1 bar drum loop and a 16 bar piano section amd an 8 bar synth part etc... And a global track transpose function that works instantaneously in the edit window rather than having to select the whole track and then go to midi window. And how about adding simple things like the ability to reverse midi sections. -------------------- Nocturnal |

Re: PT 5.2 MIDI features...
Please add better tempo mapping. I often need to do decellerandos (sp) and would like to choose two points in the timeline where tempo smoothly transitions from one to the other. Film work requires this, all the time, too, so get crackin'!

Re: PT 5.2 MIDI features...
....oooohh a MIDI Wishlist. Great!
- Ability to toggle between 'note' to 'region' for all tracks at the press of a key/icon. This would avoid the sometimes clumsy way of searching through a menu to locate the track view. Particulaly as we don't have independant 'edit' and 'arrange' winows. - Ability to collapse *all* tracks down to the small size at the press of a key/icon. This seems to be a little fiddly do to one-by-one when working with a large arrangement. - Ability to update old sessions to match a 'stationary pad' template. I like to have all my synths and their MIDI tracks permanently available in the 'Track List' menu. It is proving to be a pain to add a new synth to my old sessions, or to update the controllers for same synth in each old session. - Speaking of controllers: a) Yes, can we please be able to name them? And whenever you select a new controller to work with from the full list, have it instantle selected. At present, you have to go back into the track view-->Controllers-->and re-select the controller you just chose. b) Can we please have a MIDI CC Mixer window (working similar to the regular Mix window). You could have separate MIDI CC Mixers for each synth, and have all the synth parameters available in a single window with automatable sliders. A bit like SoundDiver. - Assuming you're planning to stick with OMS; "OMS Names" should be incorporated directly into ProTools so that any new patch names can be typed straight into the Patch window, and have that information auto-update the patch name document. Or, at least have OMS Names capable of running in the background. At present, it must be re-launched everytime you wish to use it. - Is OMS the way to go? Should a new 'SoundDiver/FreeMIDI' type application be developed for PT? These are just a few wishes for now. I appreciate that you're taking a strong interest into evolving PT's MIDI. I'm really starting to get into PT MIDI and would love to continue with it as my sole package. There's no reason why it shouldn't develop to give Logic a real run for its money, a step all over Cubase. Many thanks, Phil

Re: PT 5.2 MIDI features...
Greetings,
Non-destructive quantization. The setup for this in Logic is perfect, would be nice to just slide it over to Protools. thanks, Jared |
