Question Re: AVID/DIGI at NAMM 2010 your thoughts here.

Why rush for a new version of Pro Tools HD hardware if everything works pretty fine?

We better have the current stuff working 100% stable and no bugs at all.

Anyone wants more tracks, 384 khz sample rate, dsd capabilities, one ton of VIs???

The best shows are the ones where they leave the best bit til the end of the show...

Only an idiot gives everything away before the finale.

That's very true. Nintendo does that every year at E3.

Russ,

You better not be playing with us. That would be really mean. Many of us have already been disappointed once.

I stopped by another popular 'plug-in' booth with a question about upgrading their plug-ins from an older version to the new version that would work on Leopard/PT8 and above. (yeah, I know that's old news, but I never wanted to pay the upgrade fee so I could have 15 compressors instead of 14)

Anyhoo ...I was advised to consider waiting until May or so where there will be another paid upgrade to work with 8.0.4. So something is likely going on that will require us to upgrade all of our plug-ins again. Cat out of bag.

I'm guessing 64 bit internal processing. I heard other rumours of an entirely new format to replace HD.

I'm still on Leopard/PPC and PCI cards, so I"ll be waiting a lot longer for the dust to settle.

Unless of course people are saying "this show sucks" and leave at intermission !!

Honestly I think you can do that when the first act is going really well and you kick it u a notch for the grand finale. But when the opening number is not all that exciting ....

just sayin...

Well from what I saw today, they have really set themselves a great stage for a shocking closing number. I'm looking forward to that. Genius strategy. <<<Satire.

Someone else in here will know what I mean (they have seen the evidence), when half of AVID are posting leading lines on social networks, it makes you think the best
