Re: Running Pro Tools HD without Interface?
And just to confirm, the option to use WASAPI is only available in the new PT 12.1.0 correct?
So, when using PTHD without an interface, are all the HD features still available such as surround mixing? I know I won't be able to monitor in 5.1 without an interface but I do need to be able to open a session and make adjustments. (I will mostly be making timing adjustments for a quick rebounce of 5.1 files for a live theatre project). @mesaone So are you using the UCX as your main interface with PTHD? Or do you also use an Avid interface? My current dilemma is that I want to step up to HD but really need something that is more portable than a 19" unit (OMNI). The UCX seems like the perfect option because I can use TotalMix to switch between my PT monitoring and my macbook pro running QLab3.

Re: Running Pro Tools HD without Interface?
WASAPI is called Windows Audio Device which is available in PT 12 and up:
At this point it's only really good for playback and editing workflows. You'll need to use ASIO for low buffer MIDI and Audio recording. Shane

Re: Running Pro Tools HD without Interface?
This is good to know, as I will also be running a large VI template on the laptop, and will need to be editing MIDI. I'm thinking that I will inevitably need to get a secondary interface (apart from OMNI) for mobile stuff.

Re: Running Pro Tools HD without Interface?
I can verify that when using HD software without HD hardware, all features are still functional.
However, you are limited to a max of 32 I/O, just like vanilla. Also, when using HD hardware, there is an indicator of how many voices (audio tracks) you are using. This is not present when HD hardware is not connected. Not a big deal. |
