Default a workaround for the video engine...

Hi,

I think you are thousands having problems with the Pro Tools 2019 video engine?

I'm not an expert but at the moment the only solution I found is having 2 Pro Tools. I've installed an old Pro Tools on an old laptop. I synchronize it with a midi cable. My pro Tools 2019 is the master and the old pro Tools is the slave having only the video as a "track". That works fine!

!!! I thought VidplayMTC could be a tool to have a video player linked via MTC but It seems to be infected by a virus! Don't use it!

Thanks

I haven't had any video engine issues - what kind of problems are you running into?

Video Slave is the best 3rd party option. But kudos on setting up a Satellite rig!

Thanks,

Looks great but my Pro Tools runs on Windows... that's why I'm looking for a solution such as VidPlayMTC

At the moment, there is no feedback about this

Hi,

I need to import a movie into Pro tools to compose a brand new soundtrack.
I've installed 2019.12 on my Lenovo workstation (Windows 10)

After a long while, Pro Tools give me this message "Pro Tools Video Engine fails to launch". I tried different workarounds but nothing happens.

My understanding is that Quicktime is not anymore compatible with Pro tools 2019.12 on Windows 10.

That's why, I tried to find a stand-alone video player able to be synchronized thanks to a MTC code generated by Pro Tools.

At the moment I did it with 2 computers linked via a midi cable. The master is my actual Pro Tools 2019.12 (Windows 10) and the slave is an old Pro Tools 8.0 (Windows XP). It works because Quicktime runs with Pro tools 8.0 but I can't use the loop playback option and many other things...

Do you have a solution for that?

Thanks a lot

My workaround is to disable the video and re-enable it, and hope for the best.

You will have to either disinfect your system or roll back to a system backup.
I solved the 2019.12 video engine issue by going back to 2019.5, as recommended by a gentleman here who had had the same problem.
