Importing Newer sessions into older versions
Hi guys. Currently at the studio where I work they are using Pro toolsV8. I have recently purchased an old mbox which is running v6.4.4. I want to do some editing at home and until my upgrade arrives (v8) I am stuck with using v6.4.4.
However when i try and open the session that was recorded on v8 I am given the error message that "this is not a pro file" file extension ls a ptf ext file."hmmm Any help would be great. Thanks Gary |

Re: Importing Newer sessions into older versions
i believe this to be the answer?
sessions done on PT7 or 8 will not open in older versions unless they are saved as 6.x compatible. I would find someone with a PT8 setup and have them open the sessions and then re-save as 6.x compatible |

Re: Importing Newer sessions into older versions
In version 8, when saving a copy of the session, you have options in the file format drop down menu to save for previous versions of Pro Tools.
The choices are: Windows: • Pro Tools Session (.ptf); supports Pro Tools 7.x -> 8.0. • Pro Tools 5.1 -> 6.9 Session (.pts); • Pro Tools 5.0 Session (.pt5) |
