Default Errors -5000 and -7401

Hi, I hope someone here can help me because the Answerbase couldn't. I've got a session which is comprised entirely of WAV files that I imported. I had originally recorded this song on another computer, whose hard drive crashed - I was able to recover the original WAV files and was hoping to reconstruct it in Pro Tools. I've got all the files imported, but when I open the session the Tasks window comes up, pausing on every track. It tells me I don't have the necessary access privileges to continue (error -5000). The audio plays back fine, however, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to be doing.

Also, it won't let me use the AudioSuite plug-ins on any of the tracks. When I click "Process", it tells me again that I don't have the necessary authorization (error -7401).

I'm using an administrator account, so there shouldn't be any issues with authorization. My disk permissions are all repaired, so I'm at a loss. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It's likely that permissions on the Audio Files folder for your session are set so that the user account you're using does not have privileges. An admin. account does not necessarily automatically have access to everything - esp. when the folder was created by another admin. user account. This is why it's not allowing you to write any new audio to the folder, i.e. new audio suite processed file. I'd double check that in Finder and you should be good to go.

rebuilding permissions only corrects the permissions of system files .needed for the OS to operate. It does not touch media files in user folders. It also only works on the drive selected for permission repair. you cannot repair permissions on a drive that is not a boot drive.

I'm talking about Ownership and Permission settings when you get info. on a file or folder in Finder, not repairing permissions.

you can change the permissions of individual files and folders by using the 'get info' command in the Finder.... You'll need an admin password if you're not the Admin for that machine.

That solved my problem, thanks a lot - for some reason the permissions for Group were set to only Read.
