Default strange midi/instrument bug, or maybe i'm stupid

Hi--

I just upgraded to PT9 (from 8.04, mac), and also just started using some VIs (Xpand2 + Vacuum) for the first time. So I'm not sure whether my issue is a PT9 bug, an Xpand/Vacuum bug, or a user bug. Anyway, here's what's up; I'd love input:

I put down a stereo drum track in Xpand2, and then a mono melody track on Vacuum, while using my Mbox 2 Pro. Sounded fine. Saved & closed, took my laptop & Apogee Duet & session drive to another room to do some tracking. But when I opened it again, the MIDI had gotten really confused. The Xpand drum midi track was essentially getting summed into the Vacuum's midi sequence, so the mono synth was bouncing all over the place, combining the melody with the drum beat as melody, and Xpand was doing nothing.

I created a new Xpand track, and moved the midi region there, and all was well again; moving it back to the original Xpand track got the same bouncing synth & no drums.

Also, I tried playing directly into the (original) Xpand track via my USB midi keyboard, and all the notes got routed into Vacuum!

Is there some MIDI routing setting that I messed up somehow, telling a track's midi which instrument to feed? I can't find anything...

My setup: Macbook 2gHz, 10.6.4, 3gb ram, Mbox 2 Pro & Apogee Duet, PT9.0.

thanks

The routing for instruments is at the top of Instrument tracks. If you can't see it check your mixer view settings for the instruments pane.

I don't have 9 yet, so I don't know, how much different it looks, compared to 8, but doesn't the instrument track show you, which device it is adressing ?
