USB Mbox 3 S/PDIF question

Hello,
Is it possible to use the S/PDIF In/Outs to connect to an old stereo so I can listen through the receiver.. Old receiver which doesn't have S/PDIF In/Out s. Got a feeling that's an issue but can the Mbox hook up say, the CD L/R,or VCR In/Out.? I think a new receiver might be needed.. Thanks for any insights.

You'd have to convert the digital SPDIF output to analogue line level output. You'd need something like this: https://www.startech.com/ca/AV/Conve...erter~SPDIF2AA

You could probably pick up a used receiver that has SPDIF in for that $$.
