track ball, definitely the track ball.

mouse kills my wrist. Also I tend to run out of space on the desk when I do things like drag a window across the screen.

Duel 1.8 Ghz G5 and PT v.7.0.

Will be upgrading soon.

Ever since I saw some video (Grand Puba I think) in the late '90's I thought I wanted a trackball.
I have to admit, it looked really cool.
Over the years I have gone through several... all Kingston, ADB, USB, and even the cool one with the scroll ring around the ball. I liked them so much my wife and kids even gave me one for Christmas one year... I think it was when I upgraded to HD and had to have a new mac which rendered my ADB version useless/worthless.
The 4 buttons are nice, but the trackballs all had one thing in common - they hurt my wrist and the top of my hand very badly. I tried it with and without wrist support. The wrist support made it hurt worse.
Just my experience... call it my two cents, even though I was only offered a penny for my thoughts
I do remember one time hooking up both and really liking the combination, FWIW.
Desktop real estate has become rather valuable though and having to choose only one, I would go for a mouse... or just say to hell with it and get an icon

I find it much easier to ride faders with a trackball (Kensington), than a mouse.

My sentiments exactly. Kensington Expert Trackball... nice big smooth trackball... you can whip across dual monitors with a flick of the fingers... mouse is much less practical

NIce Thread,

Both trackballs and Mice seem to both be the correct choice - judging from the various opinions here.

From someone using a trackball I'd like to know:

1) How long did it take you to adjust - honestly
2) When you wanna select a region - can you hit it with precision every time like with a mouse - or do you overshoot lots.?

The reason I am asking is because I actually like the concept of a trackball better than that of a mouse. I never tried it for long but if you were to say like : "Well, the adaption took a week to accomplish" Then I'D be prone to give it a shot.

Thanks for any replies and this cool thread

I use the Kensington Expert Mouse Pro, took about an hour to get used to... maybe about a week to get used to the buttons that I customized into my workflow. Haven't used the wacom pen, seems awesome... but, I love the trackball!
