Well, I sent back all 9/10s of the desktop allenstein machine today and called macuniverse. m6811 should be here by friday! we'll see if the extra gig from crucial shows by then too. I was thinking if I use it with an external monitor/keyboard at home, I could double the life of the hinges.

I ordered over the phone. I was supposed to get an email with the fedex tracking number yesterday. didn't happen. no biggie. I sent an email to macuniverse customer service today asking if they had the tracking number for me. here's what I got in response:

"you'll have to contact james and find out the status of your order."

that's all it said. huh? they dont have a database or what? no contact info for james either.

I haven't heard of any problems with them yet so I'm hopeful but that's just weird to me.

Just call James tomorrow, he'll take care of you. I was actually a walk-in customer and I dealt with him in the flesh. Both he and the deal were a piece of cake. Sometimes, ones presence on the web, belies ones actual size. This is a small store in Tarzana, CA. I
saw maybe 6 or 7 people working. One was James and one was their resident tech who also sometimes answers the phone. They've got a pipeline to these refurb Emachines and really do a good job moving them. I'm VERY happy with both them and my 6811.
By the way, finally, congrats.

sad part is that it was shipped fedex 2nd day on thursday. sad because I'm not gonna see it until tuesday! weekend + day of US imperialist shame = no deliveries until tuesday. wahhhhh.
