Default Multiple Digidesign Midi I/O Interfaces?

Is it possible to connect multiple Digidesign Midi I/O interfaces together? If so, how would you configure this set-up? Thanks in advance.

I can't say for sure but I seriously doubt it. Maybe someone else has more info.

Why not? From the Midi I/O Manual:

Quote:
Up to four MIDI I/Os can be connected together for a total of 32 input ports and 40 output ports (Windows), and 40 input and output ports (Macintosh)

They're USB devices, you'd connect them all to a hub.

not sure about the Digi MIDI i/o check the documentation
Edirol (and i think Midiman) allow up to 4 Midi i/o devices
how many midi ports do you need, im sure 32 ports yielding 512 channels will be enough
i would look at 2 Edirol UM-880 i have 1 and it works flawlessly with Pro Tools and every other app
they are also cheeper than the digi MIDI i/o

The nice thing about the Digi MIDI I/O, when used with ProTools, is MIDI timestamping. The net effect should be very tight MIDI timing even when using a whole bunch of external MIDI devices. The documentation is sketchy, I can't tell whether the MIDI I/O timestamping can only be used by ProTools, or whether ProTools can use timestamping with any non-Digi MIDI interface.

never connect audio or MIDI devices to a USB hub run each from its own USB port

That's ridiculous, and the Digidesign manual explicitly states that you should use a hub for multiple MIDI I/O. Either a powered up, or unpowered - if unpowered, use power supplies on the MIDI I/O's.

Multiple USB ports on a computer are usually a hub, anyway.
