Default AJA or Black Magic?

Hi All,

What seems to be the general consensus these days?

We are running BM Decklink Studio 4k.

We get random Video Engine errors. Usually when having video online and trying to control a deck at the same time. One suite (they are all identical) gets them more than others.

I just went to Desktop Video 10.9.7 after being on 10.5.1 for a few years. It seems to be stable but I haven't rolled it out to the other suites yet. Giving it a week or so to show its true colors.

Just wondering if the AJA cards are more stable and if so, which one?

Many thanks,
Laki

I'm running AJA Kona 4 and so are many of my friends.
All my issues went away after leaving Black Magic!
AJA is rock solid and the support is excellent!
Black Magic Never again!

AJA just works. I have an IOXT, had it in for a review when it came out and within pressing play five times my credit card was out. Decklink Pro went on fleabay. Measures superbly, looks great, you can install the latest drivers with the knowledge it just works. Works with AVE or Videoslave 3. Genlock-able. Only slight downside is it runs a tad hot and has a fan. Otherwise impeccable. A no brainier. Been saying it for 4 years now.....

Even though the 10.9.7 driver is rock solid here, I wouldn't recommend Blackmagic due to this whole driver issue. There is no guarantee they won't mess it up again some time.

I second (third, fourth, fifth) that... BM is crap. AJA is good.

For some yes, but your statement is a massive generalisation. Personally I'm fine with a BM. A friend has had nothing but problems with his AJA T-tap.
