Sync ProTools and Resolume/or Arkaos - 2 Macs
I have a question about syncing one mac using pro tools for backing tracks and another mac running resolume (or Arkoas, or whatever you suggest) for video panels. I am unsure if SMPTE, MIDI or WordClock is best and/or if ALL of them will do what we are trying to do.
If I played a 30 minute song sequence on pro tools. Then I have a 30 minute video file in resolume. In MIDI i porgam the video to start on beat one with both audio and video, which is fine and easy to understand. However, what if I started the sequence in the middle of the 30 min song… past the midi trigger on beat one… would it understand where i am and will scrub with me? I don’t understand how that can happen with Midi triggers, as I only triggered the midi with one hit saying play… I assume this HAS to be in SMPTE to understand the entire locking process.. I could be wrong, so that is why I ask.. Also, any info on word clock?? does that work too???? will word clock be understood by resolume and is it good to use? as good as smpte? this graphic might explain my question better http://www.7thheavenband.com/res/clockav.jpg was thinking the mac with tracks can use this IO MOTU 828es 28x32 Thunderbolt / USB 2.0 Audio Interface https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...udio-interface and the Mac that receives this time code for the video can use this IO http://motu.com/products/midi/xpressxt_usb has anyone has experience with doing this? I welcome all suggestions Thanks for the help Richie |

Re: Sync ProTools and Resolume/or Arkaos - 2 Macs
Word clock will not help you, there's no transport nor position information in it. But it could be the next step, to be sure that video and audio will not slip.
LTC (or SMPTE if you prefer, same thing but the real name is LTC ) or MTC (same protocol, but "embedded" in MIDI) is what you're looking for. By chasing LTC or MTC, you'll be able to start / stop everywhere in your timeline. |

To have video scrub and follow your insertion at a point 30 minutes in you need MMC (MIDI Machine Control)
Take a look at this product, maybe it suits your needs: https://non-lethal-applications.com/.../video-slave-3

Once the timeline reaches that point the video will trigger. |
