most motherboards X16 and X8 slot don´t work, cause they don´t downgrade to x1, and i tested that! even x4 slots, and mobos that say that their X16 and X8 slots also work as x1 don´t work!

there might be some boards that work, but i´ve tested most of the available ones. so far no luck! could also be a winxp/vista problem.
Could be a driver problem. I had a sound card in a 4x slot in my old Abit mobo. Works fine. Also try the Asus as well. Make sure you have the cards properly seated, update the firmware, and the drivers. The Mac Pros (First and second gen) has a 16x, 8x, 4x, and 1x slot. It is just a modified Intel board. The thing that matters the most is the chipsets and software.

soundcards, firewire-cards worked, but no pthd card. all newest drivers and bios. asus, asrock, dfi, elitegroup, evga, foxconn, gigabyte, intel,...

maybe those 1366 boards are different.

Was this with XP or Vista? 32 or 64?

The 1366 boards shouldn't be that different. My understanding is that the X58 chipset is pretty much the same as the P45/ICH10R combo minus the memory controller. There no real reason this should not work but hey its Digi.

I have heard the PCI HD cards will work under Vista 64 but not PCIe as I so you may well be correct. I think someone I know has a HP with PCIe and Vista. I'll ask him and check with tech support. Any other detail of whats not working? Thanks.

Oh yea if you tried PCIe it might not work unless you have a Workstation class board or an HP workstation. That is more of a Digi issue more than anything.

Well its the same core logic (x58) chipset in this case so I doubt that its going to make much differance. Your paying for SAS and the slot layout in this case. Perhaps a little quality control and design work too.

I know HD PCIe won't work on Vista 64, From what I understand PCI will. So there are differances between PCI/PCIe.

Probably just have to try it and see.

HD PCIe will work in the PCIe HP xw8600 workstation/Mac Pro so presumably its not a BIOS vs EFI thing.

I could see it not working if there were insufficient lanes but that there would be problem with more lanes seems odd. Both the Mac Pro and the HP are certified and most/some of the slots are running at more than X1 or X4.

Yea. The Digidesign PCIe cards are 1x. So there should be plenty of lanes for the cards.

Well one would certainly think that. But it could be something like a "overflow" error. (Yeah, I know the terminology is wrong).

The Digi notes for the BIOS setup on the HP note that slot 4 may not be X16. But that may be simply because setting the slot to X16 may steal busses from 1-4 that are needed.

The Revo has no BIOS settings for lanes its all handled automatically

I just need Digi to loan me 5HD cards and a interface. I'll give them back. I promise.

Yea you mean buffer under run? Yea if the busses are mechanically wired for 16x, but some motherboards they are really 4x electronically. Some like the Mac Pro has two 16x slots and 2 4x slots (I think the older gen Mac Pro had a 4x and 1x). So yea
