Default DVD-R burning with Apple Superdrive

Anyone having success burning data DVD-R backups with an Apple Superdrive? Apple claims that their DVD-R spec only accomodates video DVD-R's burned from iMovie, but Roxio says that Toast 5.0.2 should work.

I've gotten two to burn successfully, but most of the time, Toast hangs when a blank Apple DVD-R is inserted.

G4/733 digital audio, OS 9.1, Toast Titanium 5.0.2, Mac OS base extension set

I don't know if this would help, but with your machine, you might try moving up to OS 9.2.2. Perhaps there's been a fix. (It couldn't hurt.)

Cool, I'll try 9.2.2. Are you using Toast 5.0 or 5.0.2? Are you backing up Pro Tools sessions (not that it should matter what the data is)?

Hey hey hey... stop a little here... Are you absolutely sure about this??? I mean, APPLE CD/DVD DRIVER is a part of the Authoring support package!...

Will my Superdrive work perfectly WITHOUT that extension?...

when i was having the same problem, i called raxio and they told me that the itunes extentions mess wtih toast, and to turn them off. ever since then i haven't had any problems.
i belive that the Authoring Support extentions is used only if you want to burn a cd with itunes.

my dvdr works fine without it.
