Default Re: Can I upgrade my Windows XP system to WIndows 7 64-bit?

Ok some progress. I turned on 'shown hidden files and folders' in windows, so now I can see all the folders on the DVD.

I went into the Protools installer folder and launched the setup file from there.

But I get a runtime error. Trying different compatibility modes now.

So I am launching the setup file from the CD under the hidden subdirectory ProTools M-Powered Installer.

All I get is Microsoft C++ Runtime Error: Abnormal program termination

in any compatibility mode I try. Running as administrator.

The physical DVD is bad. You can see the de-lamination. Also it will not copy completely without errors. I see in other threads that these DVDs went bad.

Since my tech support with Digi has run out I would need to pay $40 to get the download install codes.

I am going to take the hint and just get the crossgrade now to ProTools 11. That was my plan anyways. Now seems like a good time.
