Default Re: Any one with ProFire???

Well thank you all for your answers. Right now I have a Profire 610 wich a friend of mine bought recently. I'm gonna test it tomorrow and run some sessions I have on LE and MBox. I want to check the pre's with a condenser mic too. Later I will let you know what I've found.

If this unit satisfies me I think I'll buy a profire 2626 + a presonus preamp to have plenty of I/O options. I want to record a full drumset and be able to record bass player and guitar at the same time.

Hello. I've just tested ProFire 610. The install went great and everything was good and fast. Because my friend does not have received yet his license of PTM-Powered I decided to test the interface within Nuendo.

Here is what I've found.

I can record/playback with no problems at 44.1 but when I decided to go to 96KHz, clicks and pops started. At 48KHz it's ok. But I have my doubts and wonder how will it perform with M-Powered at different sampling rates.

Other annoying issue is that in order to change the Bit Depth I had to shut off Nuendo, then change the bit depth in Profire's control panel and then reopen Nuendo and the session. ussually I can do this in ProTools without leaving the application. So, can I change the bit depth, from 128 to 512 for example, within PTM-Powered or I have to close de app and change it in Profire's control panel and then reopen PT?

I very frequently change bit depth in order to adjust latency and CPU power when recording or mixing. So having to close/reopen the app is a hassle.

your not changing the bit depth, it's buffer size.

The ASIO driver control panel in Nuendo should be able to do the same thing.

Bit depth is 16 bits or 24 bits.

Wow what an am I!!!. Thanks audiogeekzine you are totaly right I'm changing buffer size. By the way, I tryed to do that change in Nuendo in the control panel and the option appears greyed out making impossible to change the buffer. The only way I could do it was as described before.

Unhappy Re: Any one with ProFire???

Can anyone help please? I'm new to Pro-tools. I have a profire 2626, with a Behringer ADA8000 and have 10 mics I want to connect for drum recording. can't get the 2 inputs I'm using from the Behringer ADA8000 to work/come through the mix in ProTools....I have the Profire Internal clock set (so Master) and the ADA8000 is set to be slave (switch is set to ADAT IN on the back). The green "locked" light is on, on the ADA8000 (SLAVE). I have connected the digital cables. 1 from the out of the ADA8000 to the IN_A of the Profire 2626 and another from the OUT_A from the Profire 2626 to the IN on the back of the ADA8000.......I get signal and can record from the other 8 mics plugged into the back of the Profire 2626, but I can't get the 2 mics I have plugged into the front of the ADA8000 to work....Please can anybody help, or point me in the right direction?

Are you sure that is the correct setup for the clock. I was under the impression that you will have to set the clock to external (sync via optical) in the 2626 control panel with this setup. When you look at the sample rate box it should turn green and the lock should appear locked when it is set correct.

Also, in your pro tools setup for the I/O, you need to make sure that the digital ins and outs are checked and active otherwise you'll never see them show as an option.

Cool Re: Any one with ProFire???

Thanks JrummerJ,

You were right. Got it working eventually.....I had to use the ADA8000 as the master and the Profire 2626 as the slave, so needed to set the clock to external in the Profire 2626 settings. I also needed to set up my I/O's properly in Pro Tools. Thanks again for your advice and help.

Cheers,
H

The factory installation disk does this, figure. Go to M-Audio's website and get the latest driver for your OS, all should be good.
