problems with digi001 errors 9129/9094

I just installed the Digi001 setup on my windows 98SE system, and whenever I playback the demos or try to record D.A., I get these error messages. I've tried the suggestions of shutting down various background programs, but to no avail. I'm in the process of checking with IBM about my hard drive's DMA settings (there's no DMA option in device profile), and have the following setup:
-30 Gig internal 7200 ultra ATA
-700 MHz PIII
-Intel D815EEA Board (not exactly sure on the chipset...yeah, I feel stupid)
-Soundblaster Live soundcard
-384 MB memory, running at 100MHz
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm waiting for my registration to be processed, so I'm asking anyone who's listening...
Also, I wanted to install an external hard drive, and was wondering about suggestions as far as SCSI vs. Firewire, and suggestions on brands/characteristics which should look for as far as drives and host cards are concerned. Thanks!

-Having no DMA option for your ATA/IDE drive(s) is sometimes problematic for Pro Tools LE. For best performance, install the standard Microsoft IDE driver included with Win98. The drivers for certain UDMA controllers are known to prevent smooth thread scheduling and cause -9093/-9094 errors:

How to install the Generic IDE Controller from the WindowsCD-ROM:
-Insert the Windows CD-ROM
-Open the Control Panels>System>Device Manger tab
-Expand the Hard disk controllers list
-Highlight the IDE Controller device, click “Properties”
-Click the Driver tab and then the “Update Driver” button
-In the Update Device Driver Wizard, enable “Search for a better driver...” and click “Next”
-Enable the CD-ROM and click “Next”
-Enable “Install one of the other drivers” and click “View List”
