I think everyone has this problem.
To get around it when powering it on, it'll be control 24, then poweramp. When powering off, power amp then control 24. It works for me anyways

Oh yeah! I'm using Mackie HR824s.

I believe this is actually the fault of the speaker design, not the C24. In my case, when the 824s are plugged into an outlet/power strip which is on, the speakers are receiving power, even though they're still turned off.

Only solution is to either put the Mackies on their own power strip which remains unpowered until the rest of the system is powered up or purchase a better designed set of monitors. I'm sure you'll go with the former although it's a PITA!!

ALWAYS repeat ALWAYS with all systems

TURN THE AMPS ON LAST!!!!!!!!!!!

This has been the law in all studios always
andrew haller is absolutely correct in the sequence of powering up and powering down.

armondo, i am unfamiliar w/ your problem, but something definitely does not sound right

Hey Doc, it hurts when I do this...

Amps are the last on and the first off. I learned that the very first day of assisting (there's just no substitute).

..but sometimes you forget and turn off the C24 with the speakers on anyways, and the pop is so loud I'm afarid it will blow the tweeters. Other mixers dosn't do that. Wonder if it can be solved. Have Genelec 1031's, so it not just a Mackie problem.

Which "other mixers" are you referring to? I've seen this behavior on Mackie mixers for years. I'm sure most large format consoles would have the same problem but they are rarely powered down. Regardless, it's crazy to turn off the mixer while still powering the monitors. In fact, I wouldn't power down ANYTHING in my studio without powering down the monitors first.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Ken, your comment is ridiculous. Every console that I've ever worked on would emit a loud pop through the monitors when powered up or down if the amps were left on. It's entirely possible that you could blow your tweeters if they're not fused, so take some responsibility for your actions...DON'T FORGET to power your amps/monitors down first.

And if you do blow your tweeters you've got nobody to blame but yourself.

Yamaha 02R, Allen Heath GL2200, and before that a Tascam M3500, I'm not saying those are totally quiet on powerdown, but not nearly as loud as the C24.
