Incompatibility Between Protools and Smaart?

Is anyone having issues using both Smaart and Protools on the same Windows system? Been getting strange behavior and crashes in both programs for awhile. I uninstalled Smaart and am running Protools and it seems to be stable now. I remember having a similar incompatibility with Protools 11 and Smaart 7. Then somehow it magically cleared up with one software update or another.

Current system is Windows 10 Pro running on my Lenovo P50 laptop with Protools 12.5.1 and Smaart 8 and then 8.1.

Hmmm, both programs trying to use the same interface? Windows sound properties set to NOT use the interface?(what interface?)

Not using them at the same time. Just installed on the same system.

Interfaces are my Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 and a Roland OctaCapture.

I have disabled every audio interface, including the on board Realtek audio in the Windows Sound Properties. So Protools only has access to the one Scarlet interface.

The folks at Rational Acoustics suggested disabling the Protools ASIO driver, which they say won't affect Protools. Not sure what they mean by it.

The problem I am having is that Protools will run for some amount of time, 5 minutes or 30 minutes, etc...and then stop. Sometime the audio will just stop and the transport will keep running. Sometimes I get a digital distortion sound and everything will stop. The only way to get Protools to start again is to reset the hard ware buffer to some other setting, then it will run again. Sometimes I get a CPU usage error, with my CPU utilozation at only 10-12%. Sometimes it give no error message at all.

Uninstalling Smaart seems to have helped. Protools looped for about 2 1/2 hours last night with no errors.

I know it's not really relevant, but the Mac version of SMAART 8 runs fine with PT 12.5 here. No issues I've noticed.

Well, I'm pretty sure that Smaart 8/8.1 was the culprit.

I have run several sessions the last couple days, including one tonight recording 32 tracks from Dante Virtual Sound Card for over 200 minutes straight with no errors. I haven't had this kind of stability with this new laptop since before I installed Smaart.
