Question Faders cause glitches ans pops during playback?!?

Hi!

I encountered a strange problem with PTLE 8.0.4 on Win 7 64 Bit.
Created a new, blank session (BWF, 44.1, 16 Bit, Internal Sync)
Imported a MP3 audio file. Plays fine. As soon as I start using the
Fader knob in the mixing window, I get glitches and pops during
playback. I turn the fader back to 0dB, audio plays fine again.
On the other hand, bounced audios are fine. Has someone
had that problem before?

My version: PTLE 8.0.4
Avid audio driver: v8.0.4

My computer setup (Sandra report):

We got the same OS and samsung HD. You seem to know what your doing and have found a software bug.

Im guessing your well aware there is a software update from AVID 8.0.5 as well driver updates. Perhaps give that a try. As for the fade your doing on the mp3 import, Did you try to just use the SMART tool and pull a fade. Or you could go in and edit the volume level for the track to fit your fading needs if the issue persist. Just some ideas.

Well, I hope I know what I'm doing ...
I didn't do any fade at all. The only thing
I did was reducing (statically) the playback
volume from 0 dB to (let's say) -20 dB.

I'll try to update to 8.0.5. Unfortunately I have
temporarily no fast internet access, so I'll
have to wait a few days til I can download
the 8.0.5 version.

At this moment, I have no urgent job
to be done, so there's no need to hurry.
I'll do a short recording session on monday
where I can avoid using the fader buttons
and hope everything will be fine then.

Nevertheless: installed the 8.0.4 version on
my Sony Vaio VGNAR51E running Win7 Professional
32 Bit OS using the same S/W and driver version,
and it plays fine...

I forgot to mention which hardware I'm using:
I use a DIGI002R device connected to the PC
via firewire.

Has this system ever been up & running properly for any decent amount of time?

Not sure if VIA Firewire chipset is compatible with PT.

Just a short update:

Sent my Digi002R to a customer repair center. They fixed
a DC harness problem with the PSU. Now the unit works just
fine again.

Thanks and greets.

That's good news. Now, back to the computer.....2GB of RAM is really barely enough to run Windows.......
