The danger with Windows is viruses, worms,...

you will have to install new patches & service pack more often than with a mac. There is still no viruses for OS X. Also take a look at the new G5.

As for stability, it seems to be equal, but for what I know, even for XP, you have to reinstall the OS more often.

Also there is more ProTools running on mac, you have more chance to get an answers if you have strange problems.

Hello. Hey JC925602 didn't even mention the two biggest factors for most people. Number one, Mac has a lot more plug ins to choose from and number two personal preference and history. If you are very experienced and/or very attached to a specific OS, you may be better off on that platform. My personal view on all this is to do both. PC's are fairly affordable, so even if you choose to go Mac for Pro Tools, you can build a PC to run Gigastudio for example. But do build your own PC. Do NOT buy a Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc. You will pay more than you need to and get a lot of unnecessary hardware and software installed. Check the LE Windows forum (top sticky) for the latest tried and true computer set up.
