Default 12 minute wait for Waves

Hello all- I recently installed and autorized Waves Gold TDM, Rennaisance Collection, L2 and Restoration Plugs. It takes 12 minutes of a spinning "W" before Pro Tools can continue. Does anyone have a wonderful suggestion or should I just put out more magazines for my clients?

PPC 9600 w/ G3 233 OS 9.1
Pro Tools 5.1.3 TDM
PT 125 MB RAM
DAE 100 MB RAM

Thanks in advance!

Waves is slow. Period.

As far as your clients are concerned, open Pro-tools before they show up. Ususally works for me.

A faster computer certainly helps...your computer is ancient by technology standards.

Also, i have noticed lower disk cache sizes (memory control panel) tend to slow boot up & launch of PT & plugs to a crawl.
Final Cut Pro manual says use lowest disk cache possible, so i did this, but it severely affected PT boot up time...something like 9min from Mac boot up to Pro Tools begin ready for session creation...i set it back to default.

Generally Waves take freakin' FOREVER!!!! I hate that...Almost not worth using. :mad

The waiting can drive you nuts. I have trashed all the Waves plug because of that. But I do miss the Ren. EQ .

This should not take that long, I have a 9600/newer g3 and waves takes about a minute, trash your waves prefs, Also I never use Waves AS so I disable AS on waves bootup & it saves about half the time.... Cheers

I had that problem on my Beige G3 with one of the early updates of Waves v3. When I went back to the initial v3, my wait went away, then I got the latest version and all is well.

I have the Gold Bundle on a 9600/350, and I'm sure the spinning W doesn't take more than about a minute. I did move the RTAS Waveshell after upgrading to 3.2 as well, but even with that it didn't take that long.

Am I correct that it takes much longer the first time you launch (or if you trash the Waves prefs file????).

Thanks for all the valuable input. After a few tests it seems that it is down to the restoration plugs (x-click, X-hum etc.). Without them i load in about 30 seconds. With them it's 12 minutes. This i can live with/without. I can't tell you how much I appreciate being able to go right to the users and have them actually respond. I shall try to pass on the favor.
