Dual layer drywall would work fine. Just be careful you don't fall through if you ever have to get up there later and move around on it.

LMAO! That would suck, but the visual is hilarious. But nah, when I'm up there, I lay a small sheet of plywood across the beams and move around on that. I already started taking the scraps up there to use. I ran out of drywall screws though!

Re: Building a dual wall Isolation Booth. Progress thread!
Here's day 17-18.
Day 17-18: Spent these days working more on the windows. Got the second window test fitted, fabric installed, and one window permanently installed. Started off putting the second window through the opening and lining up the outer stops. Then pulled the glass up to the stops and positioned it. Next, went to the other side and removed the glass and installed the inner stops for the second piece of glass I was test fitting. Result, correct position of inner stops ready for fabric. Then I remove the second pane and vacuumed all the debris from the window frame and between the wall. Both side inner stops in their permanent positions. Next I had to ready the fabric. So I stretched it out over my living room floor and marked it with chalk to have a line to cut along. Then ironed it and installed it. This was a PITA to get tight since I was doing it by myself until 3AM! I you notice, I pulled the fabric tight and held it in place with thumb tacks so I could staple it. I'm really proud of how smooth this came out for never have wrapped anything in fabric before. But since the fabric I bought was mildly stretchy, I was able to get a really tight fit around the stops for a really clean look. I started with the top because I wanted it to end at the top corner where people are least likely to look. Where the two ends of fabric meet, I just folded the last end over on itself a little bit so you wouldn't see the jagged scissor cut. Looks really clean! Here you can see how the fabric matches the paint pretty closely. Next, one window was ready to go in. I don't have any pics of the process, but I'll get them when I do the second window. Now being the I stapled the fabric to the stops, it was hard to get my glazing tape to stick. The butyl tape sticks to everything but cotton it seems! So what I did was very carefully applied a bit of wood glue to the fabric and let it tack up a bit, then stuck the glazing tape to the inner stops. Everything after that was text book. One window installed and cleaned. Tomorrow I will be double checking this window for smudges and marks and installing the second window! 8)

Re: Building a dual wall Isolation Booth. Progress thread!
Day 20-25:
Almost there. Finished building the ledge and window detail. Also, tackled the wiring and drywalling above the booth. So all I have to do now is install the doors, floor, and build some acoustic panels to deaden the booth.
