Default Core Audio 003

After installing 10.3.4 and associated files (listed below), I can no longer get audio from the Mac to use the core audio driver to play through the monitors (from iTunes, quicktime, web etc...)

Here is the process I used:
uninstalled of 10.2.0 and installed 10.3.4
1.) Uninstall of PT 10.2
2.) Installed 003_and_003_Driver_10_3_3_installer_78629
3.) Installed PT 10_3_4
4.) Installed Avid_Virtual_Instruments_10_3_installer_77520

See sig block for hw setup.

Default Core Audio 003

Same problem here. Works fine in PT but when you try to use it with anything else, forget it. 003 and 002 are on the way out anyways.

Default Re: Core Audio 003

Hopefully we'll get an official answer from Avid or from someone who got it working.

10.3 is a minor maintenance release of the 10.x family. Hence, it should include all the functionality that previous 10.x versions did. If they want to remove core-audio, I would expect an official "this is the last release", and when 11 comes out, we never see it again.

I read the release notes and did a search on core audio, and there is a small blurb stating if you have problems, use iTunes first, then switch audio selection to internal then back to 003 in mac system prefs. Sounds like they knew there was going to be a problem. This workaround did not work for me.

Surprisingly, (not trying to sound facetious), I need the functionality to play music through the monitors. I don't know who doesnt, thus I uninstalled 10.3.4 and did a clean install of 10.2. If that's where I'm at for the next 10 years, so be it. I have no plans to buy new hardware for a while.

Default Re: Core Audio 003

I got the core audio to work with PT 10.3.4 - I'd still like to hear Avid chime in on this, because what I did is no where in the docs....

1.) I did a clean / full uninstall of 10.3.4
2.) Installed:
a.) 002_and_003_Family_Drivers_v90_r3_73509 (previous drivers for
10.0.x)
b.) Clean install of 10.2.0
c.) DigiDioMidiDriver_v90_Fix_70303 (previous drivers for 10.0.x)
d.) Avid_Virtual_Instruments_10_3_Installer_77520

- Tested that PT loaded old Session files without issue - ok!
- Tested that Core Audio worked with iTunes & Web - ok!

1.) Attempted to install 10.3.4 (without uninstalling anything!) - FAILED!
2.) Made 2nd attempt to install 10.3.4. - completed, rebooted - OK!
- Tested that PT loaded old Session files without issue - ok!
- Tested that Core Audio worked with iTunes & Web - ok!

If Avid needs logs please let me know.

Bump - Avid?

Any thoughts with my method of resolution? Old drivers suffice?
Is this an isolated issue?
