Default Core Audio stopped working properly w MBox Pro(3rd gen) after 10.3.4

I've seen 003 users having problems after upgrading to 10.3.4 but any other MBox Pro (3rd gen) users not getting Core Audio to work properly?

I'm going to go through the full uninstall/reinstall procedure for a 3rd time, so if any of you guys have a working recipe, please chime in.

This is on my MBP 2,3GHz i7 with OS 10.8.2.

BR,
John

Here is what I did, of course my drivers etc, will be different than yours:

1.) I did a clean / full UNINSTALL of 10.3.4
2.) Installed:
a.) 002_and_003_Family_Drivers_v90_r3_73509 (previous drivers for
10.0.x)
b.) Clean install of 10.2.0
c.) DigiDioMidiDriver_v90_Fix_70303 (previous drivers for 10.0.x)
d.) Avid_Virtual_Instruments_10_3_Installer_77520

- Tested that PT loaded old Session files without issue - ok!
- Tested that Core Audio worked with iTunes & Web - ok!

1.) Attempted to install 10.3.4 (without uninstalling anything!) - FAILED!
2.) Made 2nd attempt to install 10.3.4. - completed, rebooted - OK!
- Tested that PT loaded old Session files without issue - ok!
- Tested that Core Audio worked with iTunes & Web - ok!

Thanks,

what finally worked for me was to
uninstall (Clean)
uninstall the MBox Pro drivers
reboot
Install the 1.1.3 MBox Pro drivers
reboot
start the MBox Pro Panel (which told something about it being the first time it started, so it needed to shut down and be started again)
Started Reason and made sure everything ran as expected.
Rebooted
Installed PT 10.3.4
reboot
Started Reason -OK
Started Pro Tools -OK
closed Pro Tools and now Core Audio seems to work as it should

Previously, I did not start by checking Core Audio functioning, instead I made sure PT started OK first.

BR,
John

Could this be why I can't get my Digi 003R to work as an output device for other programs anymore (like Audacity, Fission, etc.) since upgrading from LE 8.0.5/OS 10.6.8 to PT 10.3.4/OS 10.8.2?

Maybe I should follow one of the above uninstall/reinstall procedures?

Previously, I clean uninstalled LE 8.0.5, upgraded OS X to 10.8.2, then installed updated 003 drivers (v. 9.0r3, 78629), then installed PT 10.3.4. Pro Tools works fine with 003R, but nothing else does.

Well, here was my simple solution...

I went into the Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL folder and saw that there were two core audio plug-ins in there: Avid CoreAudio.plugin and Digidesign CoreAudio.plugin

I trashed the Digidesign CoreAudio.plugin, rebooted the Mac, fired up Audacity, reselected the 003 as Audio Output...and it worked! No lag, no beach ball. Just a conflict between two drivers, one of which should've been removed when I did the clean uninstall of LE 8.0.5

Your mileage may vary...
