Should i disable hyper-thread
4.1>5.1, 10.15.4 (19E266), Mac Pro (Early 2009), 32 GB 1333 MHz DDR3,
SSD 1 TB PCIe, AMD Radeon R9 280X 3 GB Hi! Will Pro Tools 2020.3.0 benefit from DISABLING HYPER-THREAD? My system seems to only show 2-4 threads doing all the work. All the rest (20 threads) hover around 2% even when the other four are 50-70%! |

Re: Should i disable hyper-thread
Two threads doing all the work is a effect of your session signal flow and actual plugins in use, not hyperthreading. And is likely exacerbated by your old version of Pro Tools (if you are running 12)
Not unusual behavior, and things were improved a bit in 2019.5. But what actual problem are you trying to solve? What AAE error etc.? Edit: Uh you are posting in a Pro Tools 12 forum section so do you have Pro Tools 12 or 2020.3? Maybe a mod can move this thread. Either way hyperthreading does not affect how many cores are being used. Half all those cores don't really exist anyhow (so how do you interpret that?) |
