Default Please Tell me that I am Kidding....

or is true that if you make edits in the quicktime H.264 movie imported in your session, the lag gets biggger?

If you're worried about picture delay you shouldn't be using H.264. ProTools also isn't a video editing application, but in general you should stick with DV movie format and not anything compressed if you're trying to maximize performance.

Yes; I´m aware of everything you said, I usually demands quicktime dv codec from clients, but sometimes I have to accept h.264 or others due to short deadlines, etc.

I guess naming this thread after another "infamous" thread was a bad idea, because it made my question appear less serious. d:)

So I´ll try to make myself clear: I experience even more lag in my already lagged session, when makin a edit in the h.264 quicktime file. One tiny cut, and the lag goes from acceptable to unacceptable.

Possible. Compressed format, realtime playback plus you make some tiny edits to an already compressed stream.
Definately use dv movie (not stream).
