Default Waves Masters Bundle

I have seriously been considering purchase of this new bundle but have had some reservations about how cpu intensive it might be. So I called Waves today to ask and they informed me that these new plugs are the most cpu intensive that they make. If anyone has purchased and used the Masters bundle, have you found this to be the case?

They're pretty heavy, but if you use them in a mastering session, it doesn't matter.

I have been using LE 5.1 on a PC.. but cos it's a PC I had a million problems.. so I couldn't run any external plugins. I got around this by using other programs etc.

Anyway, I'm buying a Mac in the next week or so, and I've heard a bit about the Waves plugins. Are they good plugins? Can you get a nice overall final level and stuff out of them? I'm fairly new at this but am really in need of some solid mastering plugs (especially for increasing the master level). Thanks,
Ant.

The waves L1 is GREAT for increasing overall level. Sounds wonderful, worth the whole package IMHO.

unclemurray,

Are you able to use all 3 plugs in your mastering session without the infamous "running out of cpu"
message? Also, what is your opinion of the overall sound quality versus using other plug-ins for mastering?

I have a g4 867, and for my mastering, i tried running on the master fader all of the new waves stuff plus a DAD valve and a MAXX bass. No probs at all. They have a free demo. Give it a whirl and see if it works on your machine.

As to quality. The L2 is simply awesome. At first i was like, this isn't so much different than the L1, but then I went back to the L1 for a job and it couldn'[t even touch the L2. Much cleaner, louder mixes. The linear phase stuff sounds good, but the L2 really shines. Check out the TDM board for more L2 comments.

Doug:

Thanks for the reply. I am running a g4/400 and will download the demo and see what happens.
