Unhappy Problems moving MP9 to a new computer

I recently purchased a new computer to use exclusively for Pro Tools. It has Win7 Home Premium SP1, just like the multi-use computer I've been using. It has a 750 GB hard drive (unfortunately, partitioned into two halves), 8 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. I use an OWC USB 2.0 7200 RPM eSata external hard drive for my audio files. One thing the new computer has that the current computer I'm using doesn't have is two USB 3.0 ports and only one USB 2.0 port. I did all the optimizations on this new computer, then downloaded the most current driver for my Fast Track Pro. I downloaded MP9 from the disc, then updated it to 9.0.5, just like in my old computer. I plugged in my iLok, booted up Pro Tools, pulled up a session, hit play, and got the most God-awful distortion you've ever heard. And every session I pulled up was like that. Then I disconnected my hardware and shut down the computer. It wouldn't shut down. It just sat there on the shut down screen for about 7-8 minutes, then crashed. It did reboot, but the result was the same every time. I can run a Sandra Report, but I thought I'd ask first if anybody has any ideas. For instance, does my USB 2.0 stuff not work in the USB 3.0 ports? Is there something I missed in the transfer?

That looks like a driver issue. Uninstall the fast track driver, get an other version of the same driver (it may have corrupted while you downloaded it the first time) and then install the new version of the driver. Close the computer, connect the fast track, then reboot.

Do post a sandra report too.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. The seller says she'll take the computer back, but if I opt to keep it, I'll post the Sandra report. One drawback of this computer is that it has only 1 USB 2.0 port and 2 USB 3.0 ports. I plug in my iLok, my Fast Track Pro interface, and my hard drive, so I need all three. (All these devices are USB 2.0, as that's all I had available in the original computer in which I had Pro Tools). I've noticed that if I plug my iLok into a USB 3.0 port, Pro Tools will not read it, so I'm still also wondering if it's a compatibility problem trying to run USB 2.0 devices thru USB 3.0 ports. Does anyone have any thoughts about that?
