Exclamation ProTools 10 and quad core i7 mac mini!!

WHat do you guys think, Do you think ill have any problems doing large sessions? Currently im running protools le 8.5 with a digi 003 factory + and the music production toolkit 2. All my sessions are on a PC unfortunately that can not handle all the new stuff im doing with editing, replacing, melodyne etc lol
So i will need to put these sessions on the new computer.

My other option is to buy a older used 2008 or 2009 mac pro 8 core with slower old ramm, What do you guys think?? Thanks in advance for everything!!!

My new Mac mini quad i7 @2ghz benchmarks 50% than my 2009 Mac pro 2.6ghz

that should tell you the performance is way better and if you need PCIe slots the magma thundbolt chassis will be available in a couple months

Just got one. I normally mix with high buffers doing long form work, and it is very very powerful. Though you can notice the lack of a graphics card (it does handle h264 video just fine.. but other aspects are.. sluggish at times...)

Thats fantastic!!! I just loaded everything up and got my 003 working, everything seems to be running fine, I had to reduce my buffer size to 32 for my hardware to work, is that normal??

Im up to 10.01 on lion 10.7.3. I had to go through avid site to find all my old plug in from le 8 they all loaded up no problem. Im just missing my virtual instruments that came with protools le 8 and i cant find where to dl them from avid?? Any suggestions. Thanks for all the help guys!!

It is the Mac Mini Quad core i7 server with 4 gb ddr3 1333mhz ram, and 2 500gb 7200rpm HDs.

Have you guys upgraded the ram yet. Should i go full 16gb, its surprisingly cheap for all that ram!

Hi

Since two days i have the new Quad Mac Mini Server with 16 GB Ram.
Protools 10.0.1 and CPK

I am able to load every session from the big room without error.
That is currently 205 Tracks with a lot of surround busses
Even with reduced cores to 5 everything runs very very smooth.

Graphics is absolutely fast enough. No 9xxx errors so far.
I did not deinstall the Server options. Just as it came!

Go for it. Works!!!

Ale
