I also experience GUI sluggishness..
Most GUI plugins are working fine, but i found BC's Patchwork to make the whole app unresponsive...even if Patchwork is empty (not loaded any VST or AU)
Anyone else?

Plugin search was broken on 2023.9 before upgrading to Sonoma.

It seems this problem arises with large sessions with a lot of plugins, since I've tested it with a small session and wasn't that bad, although I could tell there was a worst graphic performance comparing to the same session running in my Ventura System.

Both systems were running the latest PT 2023.9 in Apple Silicon mode.

I have none of these issues. Running a large 280 track ATMOS session with hundreds of plugins and 4k video, the DOLBY v5 renderer into SPHERE 7.1.4 with Sonarworks on the output.. It's all buttery smooth.

Plugin search is working just fine here on 2023.9 (on Ventura 13.6)

Mmm, interesting. That was broken on both my systems, even with 13.6.

what kind of godly system do you have to be able to do this. i have a m1 mac mini and it struggles with basic podcasts sometimes.

It's an M1 MacUltra with 64GB Ram and 2TB storage, so not the top tier.
I had all sorts of Core Audio problems under BigSur snd then Ventura however.

I'm also running a MacMini M1 with 16gb RAM, but never had this kind of graphic sluggishness in previous versions of MacOS.

Clearly there's a lack of optimization in Pro Tools with Sonoma that's excessively taxing the GPU in first generation M1 processors, which is not felt in your system that have GPU power to spare.

Sonoma running nicely on my 2019 16" MacBook Pro so far. Have not tested with my main RME interfaces yet (I'm not where they are).

One annoying thing with Sonoma is the click on desktop hides window behavior. Here is how to fix that:

https://9to5mac.com/2023/09/26/disab...p-macos-sonoma

A macOS UX gripe from past versions as well is hot corners, having the notepad pop up every time I overshoot the trash can with the mouse sucks. That gets turned off.

I did have a problem where macOS Settings went out to lunch and would not show the settings windows, had to reboot the mac to fix that.

Hugs to Toontrack for being one of the few DAW ecosystem vendors who can make a plugin manager that like actually just works.

Edit: oh and Softube Central plugin manager works on Sonoma, never would install the iLok components properly on Ventura. The shock of too many things working, I'll have to have a lay down.
