Mbox 2 Makes my PC Run even worse than normal!!

Here is my current PC configuration. However I have tried installing this hardware on several PC's over the past couple of years, and it doesn't work on any of them. Three different chips, all Windows XP SP2 all with atleast 512 RAM. I don't understand the issue.

I get the blue screen of death many times. The setup of Pro Tools Mbox 2 will hang on the last driver for the Mbox 2 Hardware so it will never actually get installed. I do not know what could be causing this. Any help would be great. Thanks.

But the same things happens on my Intel Pentium 4 and my Athlon XP 2500+ Computers. Is it supported by those processors?

Every computer I have installed this on the Pro Tools Setup never fully completes and the drivers never get installed. Is there a PC out there that will work with this device. I have not got this to work for 2.5 years now and I will buy whatever PC to make it work.

First of all the Turion is the first issue. As Spkguitar mentioned, this is not supported and known to have problems with Protools.

What version of Protools LE are you installing? Since you've had this Mbox for 2.5 years, you may re using an older verison of Protools. I'm suspecting possibly a version that does not work with Microsoft Windows XP SP2 yet. You might need to update the pace drivers from www.paceap.com.

Protools is very picky about the hardware so you should check the chipset compatibility. There are several threads at the top of this forum that can guide you towards a proven working computer.

512MB is a little skimpy for Protools. I don't think this is your problem but it sure doesn't help. With video systems that share memory and Windows XP eating up a lot of resources, you're left with very little RAM to work with. Antivirus programs, spam blockers, spyware blockers, etc. also eat up valuable memory space.

It looks like your second Hard drive is only 10 GB. Since Protools should always record to a separate physical hard drive than your system drive (not a separate partition of the same drive), that 10 GB seems pretty small.

Finally, you've got a ton of software on that computer. Most of us like to have a dedicated PC for Protools. All that other software just increases the chance of something not working together. Definitely remove or turn off antivirus software when doing an installation. If possible, avoid even having your Protools PC on the Internet.

Yes Pro Tools is compatible with both Pentium 4 and AMD XP processors. It may not have been compatible with the chipsets in those two systems, however.
Impossible to say without details about those computers.

In hindsight, you surely would have been farther along if you'd gone through troubleshooting those first two computers with the assistance provided here.
