Default hard disk problem - help! "B Tree keys out of order"

I got a weird error on my main hard disk

"Catalogue B Tree
Keys out of order, 4,9367"

I tried disk first aid but it can't repair it. Has anyone had this? Is it bad? What did you do to fix it?

Thanks!

B tree has to do with the dir of the disk's contents. Your HD is in dire need of maintenance (or more drastically, complete reformatting!). Buy a copy of the latest Norton System Works (best money you ever spent - & yes there are alternatives like Disk Warrior, Tech Tool, etc.), boot from its CD & run Disk Doctor. Do it now, or risk losing everything. Disk First Aid is virtually useless.

i've had/have this problem. Norton finds the problem but can't repair it. I've reformatted, zeroed out the data, and still weeks/months later I have the same problem. I've only had the computer 7 or 8 months. I finally ran Anivirus and found a virus on my computer that is probably the cause of all my pain. I would suggest at least running a virus untility and see if that may be a problem. Other than that all Apple has been able to tell me is to reformat and zero out the data. I'm starting to think maybe something is wrong with the drive...who knows. Anyways I hope that there is something of value in all of this chatter
