Default Adding Inputs with adat AI3 on M-Powered PT?

I am finally switching over my Pro Tools rig to OS X v10.5.4 since my old G4 died along with my Digi 001. I bought the new version of M-Powered Pro Tools v7. I am using a M-Audio firewire 410 interface. I would like to add more inputs with my Alesis adat AI3 interface. I am using the Litepipe cable for sp/dif into the M-Audio interface. I have changed the sync mode in Pro Tools to get its time sync from the AI3 and my 410 has a blinking light that says it is receiving sp/dif information. The problem is, when I go into Pro Tools and check my inputs, I still only have 4 showing when I should have 12. Does anyone know what I have to change in order to make this work?

The alesis adat AI3 is a interface that lets you add 8 inputs and 8 outputs to any pro tools interface. so I had 8 inputs on my old digi 001, plus 8 more from the AI3. This gave me 16 total. Now my M-Audio firewire 410 only has 4 inputs, so when i add the AI3's 8, I will have 12 inputs. I have used the AI3 for years, but before, the Digi 001 automatically detected the 8 new inputs. How do I get the M-Powered 7 Pro Tools to see the new inputs?

Please help...

This setup will not work as you are intending it to. SPDIF and ADAT are two different
kinds of digital I/O. SPDIF only handles 2 channels. ADAT handles up to 8 channels.
The 410 needs to have ADAT capability for your AI3 interface to work. Unfortunately
it doesn't have this connection on it. You need to get either an 1814 or one of the other interfaces that feature ADAT connections.

ADAT is a fiber optic connection, SPDIF is not.
