Questions about upgrading from pt9 to 12
Hello... I'm doing this switch and I'm quite scared... I don't exactly know what I'll be going through
My system now is a Mac Pro 1st gen with 10.6.4 and pt9... Next week will arrive here a MacBook Pro retina 15 and I'll have to get pt12 Problem is I have all projects done with pt9, some quite old and I'd like to keep the 9 so I can check in the Mac Pro if everything has been opened right... And if not I can open it in the Mac Pro and export what I need and eventually recreate the project in 12 But unfortunately now I cannot afford to keep the 9... What problems will I encounter? Thanks! |

Re: Questions about upgrading from pt9 to 12
Hey
Yes you get PT10/11/12 bundle for the $199 per year plan. You NEED a Ilok2 in order for this to work so if you don't have one you need to buy one ilok2 before you can use any of the licenses you buy. PT9 uses the older green gen1 ilok so the new ilok2 is rectangular and grey/blue-ish. I attached a picture at the bottom of this post for you to see how it looks in case you don't have that one. Just click the small photo and you will see it better. You have to surrender the PT9 license unfortunately for this offer but as you recieve all three versions 10/11/12 you willl be fine. PT10 opens all the plugins on sessions made on PT9 And as far as I can tell you won't have any problems with opening PT9 sessions in PT12 except for some plugins you might have that needs to be upgraded to AAX64 bit. All Avid plugins that comes with this bundle are AAX64 bit but 3 rd party plugins needs to be upgraded and downloaded in order to work above PT10. All the same plugins will open in PT10 which you get in this bundle so should you need to open sessions with rtas or AAX32 bit plugins and can't afford upgrading all of them to AAX64 you can open the PT9 sessions in PT10 and everything will work as it did in PT9 So .. Make sure after i stalling PT12 that you check all your third party plugin manufaturors websites for updates for the plugins to AAX64 bit. Most have a nominal fee like Waves and a few others but most of them are free to upgrade to the new Avid AAX64 bit format All The Best and hollaback if you need any assistance with the install etc
