compatibility is unlikely given the vast difference in DSP chips there will be
the current DSP chips are end of the product line

but what do I know?

Thumbs up Re: Thunderbolt-Sonnet’s Echo™ Express PCIe 2.0 Expansion Chassis with Thunderbolt™ P

From what I heard, Magma has finally made the announcement that thier Thunderbolt Expansion Unit has been approved / certified by Intel.
Magma is now shipping a fully certified Thunderbolt Expansion chassis.

Just to update this thread -

The Sonnet Echo Express single-slot version works with the HD Native card and PTHD 10.2 really well on 10.7.4. No additional drivers needed other than installing PTHD 10.2.

The OWC "Helios" enclosure which is essentially the same thing but cheaper and more compact also works fine with HD Native + PTHD 10.2.

Thank you! are there any comparable positives to either noise wise or any other significant factor?

I originally got the Sonnet, but returned it for the OWC once the Helios was announced. Both have noticeable fan noise, but the OWC is a little quieter, and also has a smaller overall footprint, almost half the size of the Sonnet. Part of that is probably b/c the Sonnet has an internal power supply and the OWC uses an external in-line brick style plug.
