OS question
Forgive me if this has been discussed in a previous thread, but I am wondering . . .
I've heard several times that pro tools is not compatible with 64 bit operating systems. Does this mean that it simply will not work on a 64 bit os or will it work, just only utilizing 32 bit, if that makes since. Can i buy a new pc with 64 bit or should i stay with 32? Thanks in advance Chris |

Re: OS question
There are way more people here than me that have done thorough testing on this. However, I'll sum up what I've read over the weeks. You can get it to work, but it's very unstable. Also, it's almost impossible with the firewire hardware (002,003). More people have had success with the mbox and such.
If you want my personal opinion, all the time you might spend trying to get it to work is better spent on the music and waiting for the update that will have it right out the gate. To answer your question, it will be running in 32-bit mode. You should still be able to get the extra address space though and thus utilize more than 1.8GB RAM for the app. (Windows) Last edited by trep; 12-10-2009 at 04:58 PM. Re: OS question
There are a number of reasons to wait if you can. With a USB interface you will be able to get running if you follow the advice on the threads dedicated to this. You will of course be in unsupported territory with the exception of help from the few W7 advocates here on the DUC.

Re: OS question
In addition to 003/002, Mbox 2 Pro is also firewire and PT 8.0.1cs1 most certanly will not work with 64 bit. I'v tried several times, but no luck. Stick with 32bit untill new drivers are released.
