Default Adat Bridge - Shame on yu Digi !

I am a Digi fan. I use and love PT for years now; but I find it really unbelievable we are still unable to get any real info on Adat bridge update to 24 bits.
Come on Digi. I think it's time now !
When ? How ? and $ ?
TIA
JHC

Digi doesn't care! They promissed it a year ago, but the 001 and making money are more important.

Let's be fair now folks. Digidesign does care about this issue and has addressed it in this very forum previously. I will paste in product manager Robert Campbell's response to this issue once again for those of you that may have missed it:
"The new 001 box has 24-bit ADAT lightpipes. Once the 001 unit has been completely tested and is shipping, we will take the ADAT technology used in the 001 and put it into the ADAT Bridge I/O. We don't have an ETA on availability, but we will endevour to rev the current product and offer an upgrade as soon as humanly possible."

Digidesign is doing everything it can to meet the incredible demand for Digi001's while keeping up to date on all of our other product orders. Once the current demand for Digi001's has been met we will immediately go to work on resolving the ADAT
Bridge issue. We appreciate your support and thank you for your continued patience.

What does "the incredible demand for Digi001's" (a manufacturing issue) have to do with development of a 24 bit ADAT Bridge (an engineering/design issue). Are your engineers in the back room building 001s by hand?

Gregg - Thanks for the response - nice to see you're watching the boards.

So - the 001 is certainly well tested at this point, and has been shipping for what, a few months? Seems like it's 'humanly possible' to get an upgrade going now

Please let us know when this could be expected - since 24-bit multitracks are well established, and most of us are working with 24-bit capable digital consoles at this point, information about this affects equipment purchase plans for the next six months. Any info, even if it's "don't expect it for at least 2/3/6 months" would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

rich

Hi folks,

Let me help shed some addtional light on how we operate here and why it has taken us extended time to bring a 24 bit ADAT bridge to market.

Hardware product redesigns fall into the responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineering group here at Digidesign. We typically do this to allow our new product designers to work on next generation products, alleviating them from the sustaining aspects of their former work. This effort also allows the manufacturing group to add additional benefits to the product in the areas of producibility and improved reliability of the redesigned product. While these same Manufacturing Engineers are working on programs such as this, they still have responsibilities of other manufacturing issues with current products. The success of the Digi001 has sent us in search of other vendors to support the volume that this product has encountered and taken those same ME resources to accomplish.

Punching out a HW redesign is only the beginning of this effort. The new product must be tested both internally and in a beta program to ensure it is ready for the consumer and then this is incorporated into a SW release because of the different system and driver requirements of this product.

Hang in there, we don't have any availability dates yet, but we are striving to get it to you as soon as it is ready.
