Default Oxygen 49 third generation Any Words on it?

Anyone have a third gen oxygen 49 that they are currently using?

If so, do you like it?

How do you like it as a transport controller.

Can you use it to control plugins such as eq or compression? Or just ones like xpand2, etc.

Anything cool that you do with it?

I picked one up about 2 months ago to replace my aging oxygen 1 25 key. I had first bought the Novation 49SLmkII, but took it back 2 days later because I hated the Automap software, and couldn't justify the price of the keyboard, so I decided to stick with M-Audio at a fraction of the cost.

The O3 seems much better built. (I play a good bit of drums on my controllers, so build quality is huge to me) The CC integration is better, and I like it for a transport control, but old habits keep me at space and num 3.

I do believe that you can map any plugin control to it. When you specify the Oxygen controller, it enables a learn command in each plugin window. Hit learn, pick your control, bump your CC and your moving. I do occassionally use the faders for minor mix adjustments.

As far as cool stuff - it plays my soft synths, so that's pretty cool. Much happier with this guy over the Novation.

having used all the previous models extensively, i can say it's a major improvement.

i had only gotten the V1 & V2 to work with certain instruments/midi enabled effects that had CC learn capability built into the plugin. the new version seems to allow for control of just about any plugin, i just dont use those functions for much in the way of standard mixing plugins. ill occasionally use the knobs for things like the cutoff/resonance/fat controls in the AIR vintage filter.

but it's a dream with sylenth/hybrid/xpand/nexus, so I'm happy.

I have an Oxygen49 blue (which is the 3rd gen) and it can be mapped to pretty much anything. For the price I find the quality acceptable. The faders have a little play in them and a few other minor things you'd expect with that price of keyboard but its good.

I do have a problem with it since I upgraded to PT 9.0.2 from 9.0.1 though which is when I change sessions PT wont recognize the keyboard in the new session. I have to exit Pro Tools and restart it in the new session that I need the Oxygen49 in.

I have tried everything including reinstalling PT. It just doesn't like PT 9.0.2 for me so I gave up and I restart PT when switching sessions if I'm gonna use the keyboard. Pretty lame.

Other than that it's great. :)

its actually not bad.

still cheap and un profesional but for your own home studio its great.

no aftertouch though which is a bummer but its not a big deal .

the directlink works great. easy.

i have 2 presets, one for directlink and one switch can change to my custom cc which its specific for sample instruments like expression, filter etc, and also custom LASS cc.

also in pro tools u have select and click and u can change any plugin parameter which is not the same with logic. (that i know of)
