Default Digi Core Audio Manager problem

I've been happy with how Digi Core Audio Manager has worked for me up until now.

Suddenly DCAM will only serve one application at a time!

I have to quit and relauch DCAM, and then the first application that produses audio will go thru the Mbox. But any other app will not. Not even after I quit the first audio playing app. I have to quit and relaunch both the DCAM and the new app that I want to go thru the Mbox!

I can't find any posts about similar symptoms here, so I try a new trhead.

Anyone else with these problems?

I have of course a few suspects:

I recently upgraded to 10.5.8

I had trouble playing some video online, so I installed something called Perian that would let me play those streaming clips.

I removed VLC.

PS. Although I have and use PT on it, this is on my "other work" partition. I have one partition with 10.5.5, PT8.0sc3, and no DCAM and very little else, that I use for serious audio work.

PPS. If I don't find a solution, I guess I'll have to live with it... Snow leopard is not very far away now.

They should just stop offering it IMO, and the windows equivalents. They are a distraction for users programmers and support alike. These days I just have the optical out of the Mac go to an outboard DAC that I switch to optical when I want to hear the system audio.

Is this the actual Mbox 1?

Or is it an Mbox 2 series?

The answer to how to fix the problem will depend on which hardware you're using.

It's Mbox1.
I've had it for acouple of months, working like it should.
Like I said, I suspect it has to do with upgrades or changes I made.
And, from the lack of feedback, that seems likely.

1st suspect is Perian - the swiss-army knife of QuickTime components wich I installed to get some website videos to work. It might be the culprit.

HEY onepercent! I did what you said, and it fixed it!

Thank you.

By the way, I've used the PT helper many times, but this is the first time I've checked all nine options.
I guess I'll have to restore some settings in PT.

I use my mac for much more than PT, and having all audio go thru the same system is the whole point for me. I am so used to it working that I didn't realise how essential it is for me. Until now.
