Re: A7N8X PC with a boot up problem!
I have tried booting from a diskette and a CD-ROM. I have tried several different boot sequences.

no, i work IT for a living. 50% of computer problems are user-related, then another 40% are windows-related, then the last 10% are hardware/cable related.

Re: A7N8X PC with a boot up problem!
Hello IceblueD-
Truthfully, there comes a basic level where it's hard to make any further suggestions. You are having difficulty, as I understand it, with getting a new drive formatted and an OS installed. Xp makes that pretty easy, but only if you can get your computer to boot from the XP CD... and if you certain that all connections are made correctly. This is pretty basic stuff if you build and work on computers. If not, it's very difficult to troubleshoot long distance. If you've gone into Setup (BIOS), and verified that CDROM is listed somewhere prior to your hard disk... ie., first or second boot device, and you are certain all your drives (floppy, CD and HD ) are connected properly, you should be able to boot to your XP CD. If not, maybe it's time for you to look for a local computer person, pay him or her for an hour, and get it out of the way. I had a friend recently, who, because he's shy about asking me to work on his computer, spent two weeks trying to install a storage drive in his DAW. Finally, he brought it by , I pop'd open the case and saw that he had a floppy drive cable plugged into the drive. It took 20 minutes to get him up and running. No I'm not patting myself on the back here, he's much better at everything else in life than I am... I'm just saying that sometimes you can't beat an experienced, 2nd set of eyeballs. |

Re: A7N8X PC with a boot up problem!
Thankyou! I didnt mean to sound upset with the last post, but everyone was telling me things that I mentioned I did in the first and second post. Thanks everyone for your assistance. I'll just have to be out of a computer for a few weeks till I have money for service.
