Here is a great way to get additional I/O at 24 bits. Buy an ADAT Bridge (much cheaper than 888) and the pigtail connector to the card. Get two DigiMax from PreSonus which are 8 channel preamps with limiters. Go Lightpipe from DigiMax to ADAT Bridge. You've now picked up 16 channels with preamps for less than one 888. I've been using this with one 888 for a total of 24 inputs and it works great.

What kind of quality has the presonus box??? What kind of DA quality conversion are you achieving???
I rather go for RME AD conversion and separate pres to suit your taste...
