midi playback=audio, midi edit=no audio
Ever since PT8, in new sessions, midi notes no longer respond/are not triggered when I click on them or create them in the piano roll editor and no sound is heard, but during playback, the sequence works just fine and I can hear everything as it's supposed to sound.
I can't find anything that has to do with this in the preferences. Am I just missing a setting, or is it a bug that fell through the cracks? Thanks in advanced. |

Re: midi playback=audio, midi edit=no audio
I don't remember what menu it's in, maybe midi or something, but try turning on midi thru.

Re: midi playback=audio, midi edit=no audio
Thanks a lot for the reply.
Nothing. I'm seeing no setting anywhere, and I've searched every nook and cranny of PT's interface and menus, multiple times. Just as well there seems to be no information about this on the internet. I'm beginning to think it's a bug. The way I have to work around it is open old sessions where this was not a problem, delete everything, save copy in a different folder, and start fresh that way. |

Re: midi playback=audio, midi edit=no audio
I'm in PT8 and I just got a chance to check. It's Options>MIDI Thru. I think that should be it.

Re: midi playback=audio, midi edit=no audio
In the MIDI Editor, there is a button labeled with a midi connector and a speaker symbol next to the MIDI Note Velocity. There you can switch on or off "Play MIDI notes when editing".
Is this what you have been looking for?

Re: midi playback=audio, midi edit=no audio
Thank you everybody. And thanks Holly73, yes, "Play MIDI notes when editing" is exactly what I was talking about, however, for me, that icon you mentioned wasn't in the MIDI Editor, but in the main counter display. Even more tiny, obscure, and easy to overlook. It was difficult to articulate my problem, not knowing what it was called. New sessions defaulting to this threw me off and had me thinking it was some kind of bug until I remembered there was a setting for this, but I couldn't find it or the life of me. So thanks for helping me out everyone.
