They are. But they should understand that they're married to Protools which most professionals use. Without Protools, Waves would make it a lot harder to sell their product, thus I think they're just not announcing a date (but we as customers would be happy with even a simple "we will release AAX-native and AAX-DSP eventually, just sit tight, we release when we're ready" statement.

Does WUP specify how long they have to Develop and support a new format????

Perhaps Waves doesn't have the finances to develop aax-dsp???

Maybe they know more about Avid than we do???

Aviid Dropped the ball with Protools 10 so maybe Waves are waiting for PT 11 before releasing aax-dsp???

From Waves' point of view, there's VERY little reason to allocate the resources for AAX DSP right now since they'd only be accommodating a few hundred early adopters. It's pretty simple. You can like it, or not.

Yeah and this makes me think waves has some problems.
And also those great savings deals EXSPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET THEM EVERY MONTH make me wonder. I think waves has lost some market shares and try to compensate this with that kind of deals.
Who the hell buys waves under normal conditions?

WUP = Waves Under Pressure

But I pay them gladly If there will be DSP support

Quite many would be satisfied with a "we're working on AAX-native release first and hope to be ready with AAX-DSP on or before PT goes 64-bit" announcement. ASAP is a whole lot better timeframe than no announcement at all.

That said; it's probably not very easy task. Sonnox for example have usually had good support but now even they have slipped. Announcement about first AAX plugs in January was too optimistic and they have not even updated their 64-bit faq page.

And it seems to take ages for Eventide to release the next single AAX-native plugin, they're hoping for March release but all they're releasing is one plugin.

Now consider the number of plugins Waves needs to support, and we expect to get 100% support all at once. I'm going to believe there won't be AAX support in the initial V9 release, not even AAX-native, so we're probably going to have to wait until at least late 2012 to get it. Maybe then they will announce timeframe for AAX-DSP development...?

hehe, but seriously they have just demoed how the new licensing will work and thats it. I don't think they are in the out-of-resources situation some people here think, but as we see from the pricing policy, they have come down in price a lot to make it harder to justify stealing the plugs. The new protection scheme is not that much of a protection than just a step away from ilok that does not offer protection anyway. You'll see in just a couple of weeks. And WUP up :)

All WUP'ed up, so let us hear what you've experienced. If it's demonstrated, it's public information. Just that I wasn't there when they demoed but I'm interested. Are they ditching iLok and going back to the www.plugin-alliance.com trick or some kind of a challenge-response system? Their own dongle? Call their customer service and receive a secret handshake?

Just tell what you know. It's not under NDA if it's publicly demoed...
