Default Macbook Pro & M-Audio Firewire 410

hi
i have the m-audio firewire 410 that i use with protools m-powered and i want to buy the new macbook pro that only have firewire 800 i was looking at digidesign website how to connect but i didn´t really understand how it works...
a firewire cable converter from 800 to 400 is not enough?
can someone help me please?!

I connect the Firewire 410 to my mid-2009 MacBook Pro with a 400-800 firewire cable and my audio hard drive is connected to the 410 via a 400-400 firewire cable. It works fine.

i just dont understand something, what you mean with your audio hard drive is connected to the 410? why you need that?

Your audio hard drive has to be connected to your computer somehow, and the only way to do this is to daisy chain it with the audio interface. Your computer will see it just fine.

I'm not sure why you're confused about this, unless you've not been using an external drive for recording. See page 3 of the M Powered Setup Guide.

You must use an external drive for your audio. Recording to the internal system drive, even if it's partitioned, is NOT a good idea.
