Default Using Digi 001 as Sound Card for other applications

Sorry for such an elementary question: I use my host PC for other programs such as SoundForge, DVD Player, and CD Player. With Digi 001 installed in a PCI slot, can it serve as the sound card for all audio applications?

yes, but you can only run one application at a time. Digi001 uses it's own Wave Driver, which will allow no more than 2 channels of audio. If you set it as your prefered device in Multimedia, you can use it to play CDs, run Acid, Sound Forge, etc.
You may get an error message once in a while, but it's easy to disregard it and keep on goin'.
Ironically, yesterday I bought an M-Audio 2496 Audiophile to run as a main souncard for apps like Reason et al. It's a 24-bit, 2 in 2 out w/ Midi, which had great reviews from Future Music, Sound On Sound and Computer Music magazines. I haven't installed it yet, but I'll post some feedback on that whole deal later.
As far as that setup goes, I then select the Audiophile as my prefered soundcard (Control Panel-> Multimedia-> Audio), route it's outputs to Digi IN 3 and 4, and use the 001 only for ProTools.
