Cannot hear Instrument Track
I'm working within a session that has an audio track that I can hear.
I insert an Instrument Track, assign it to an XPand2 Piano instrument, and input a bunch of midi notes. When I play it back, nothing appears on the meter and I can't hear anything. It's probably something very simple but I haven't been able to figure it out. p.s. Is there a site to post sessions that people are having problems with so that experts can download them and see the whole situation? Thanks. *Disclaimer - I am just a hobbyist and not a pro musician so please excuse my stupid questions. |

Re: Cannot hear Instrument Track
check the output on the track. If it's italicized, use a different output. This can happen during "importing session data" and there are settings in the i/o panel for overriding the session ports that might help.

Re: Cannot hear Instrument Track
Next step(if the above advice doesn't help). Show the MIX window. Now go to View>Mix Window Shows> and check Instruments. This adds a box at the top of any Instrument track. In this box, you will see where the midi is assigned. If the assignment is grey'd out, click on it and select the plugin that is used on the track(this setting will be inactive any time you CHANGE the plugin).

Re: Cannot hear Instrument Track
This is very interesting. I had this same problem when I 1st installed PT8. I've read on other posts where others have had the same problem.
I couldn't get Expand or any of my Avid Plugin Instruments to work so I just used Reason 5 for the longest time. Then I had something minor go wrong & I went to uninstall PT8. But instead of uninstall, I clicked repair. It repaired my minor problem & my Avid Instruments Plugins too. It might work for you ??? Good luck & Merry Christmas !!! |

Re: Cannot hear Instrument Track
Kier: as I read it, you have 1 audio track with content on it as you say you can hear it. Next to that you have made an inst' track with xpand on it. … points:
1-The inst track needs to have a physical input assigned. 2- you need to either record arm the inst track or hit monitor input to hear it.
