Default help!? "the installer could not write the receipt for "plug-in updates"??

i recently bought pro tools m box2 mini and it was going perfectly until i stupidly thought that by uninstalling it i would free up more memory on my mac os x. i did not do a safe uninstall but did a clean uninstall. then when installing pro tools again it stops halfway through installment and says "the installer could not write the receipt for "plug-in updates".

im guessing when i did the clean uninstallment it wiped certain plug-ins and system files needed for the compatibility with some Avid products?

do you know what i should do?

i live in NZ and tried ringing a whole lot of people but NZdrs and music software just dont go

it sounds like a permissions issue. when you install an app or plugin a receipt file is created here:

hd>library>receipts

if the installer hasn't got write access to that folder the installation might well fail.

try repairing disk permissions using the disk utility app.

thanks so much max for answering, tried repairing it but no luck, will try taking my comp in to a specialist, thanks once again, hello from nz
