Hopefully you kept your installer. I keep a copy of every revision and have done since around 10.5 as I often get asked to fix others people’s machines.

If the machine ships with Mojave from the factory, no it is not possible to install a previous operating system. The firmware prevents this.

You can never install an OS on a Mac which predates the version with which it comes from the factory. You can switch *back* to High Sierra if it's been upgraded to Mojave, but if it came preinstalled with Mojave, this is not an option, unfortunately.

That is 100% incorrect.

I have done it on dozens of machines. You can downgrade it to the OS the machine would have shipped with when it was originally released, not when it was bought. Some of these ‘current’ Macs have been around for multiple years.

Unless they’ve recently (like in the past year) changed something that locks it out, the OP could probably go back to 10.9 on that machine. It was released in 2013.

Macs are not iPhones.
